RESEARCH LINES

.- Prevention: What can we do "before the stroke"? Promoting the research in stroke prevention should permit to anticipate the apparition of the illness. From what we eat to how we control our vascular risk factors, a change in biomedical culture and a good number of opportunities in research to live with a healthy brain. "Silent cerebral infarctions" is a project to detect this "invisible illness", by means of neuroimaging, genes and biomarkers…

.- Equity: "During the stroke", it is important to offer the best of our health care systems to all the patients. In this setting, the project is fit in "Equity in the attention of stroke (stroke and women)", because this illness continues being the first cause of death among our women. Also, our concerns will be to develop research studies in older people and other high-risk groups…

.- Repair: "After the stroke": From-FRI Stroke we intend to identify scientific niches of interest in Neurorepair after stroke and provide resources for research in these areas… because a greater stratum of the population would be benefited from these strategies, as compared to the actual research, which is mostly directed at the patients who can be attended within the first hours after stroke.

.- Observatory: "To look at stroke” with critical eyes and constitute a true window and lighthouse of the neurovascular disease in our environment, with independence and neutrality set against the private industry and the institutional agents. This observatory will support patients and guide professionals related with stroke. From there, we will systematically analyze the evidence in stroke, and in pharmacoeconomy. We will sit down at the table "to think about stroke" with the most prestigious researchers in the Barcelona Think Tank. Besides that, the patient will be the main character of many of our projects of research in a new concept of "investigation oriented to the patient".
